org-os is a way to run an organization out of a folder of plain files. Who the members are, what the projects are, what was decided and why, what happened in the last meeting: each lives in a text file, in a git repository the organization owns. No product to subscribe to.

The files are laid out so that an AI agent can read them and act on them the same way a person can. You open a session, the agent shows where things stand, you work, and at the end it writes down what changed.

What is in an instance

One repository is one organization. It holds:

  • who the organization is and what it values, in a few short documents;
  • registries in YAML for members, projects, finances, governance, meetings and ideas;
  • a daily log, and an append-only record of decisions;
  • a machine-readable identity, generated from those files, following EIP-4824. This site has one, at /.well-known/dao.json.

Organizations can link their instances to each other. Each keeps its own data. Linking adds visibility, not control.

Where it stands

It is open source, under the MIT licence. The current version is 0.5, and I call it pre-beta on purpose.

ReFi Barcelona, ReFi DAO, Regen Coordination and this practice run on it, and ReFi Mediterranean is being set up. Is it proven outside my own hands? Not yet. I set up every one of those. An organization I have nothing to do with, running on it for a month, is the next milestone.

I wrote it with AI coding agents doing much of the typing. That is also how it is meant to be used.

If you want it

I set up an instance for an organization, train the team, and keep it running afterwards. Write to me.
